WW2 Dunlop,motor-cycle product.

Re: WW2 Dunlop,motor-cycle product.

Just idle curiosity, Steve but is it threaded BSF ?

Re: WW2 Dunlop,motor-cycle product.

Hi Rik, looks like Whitworth, got it from Stratford jumble last week for £1,have got about half a dozen more, will try to dig them out and see if any of them have BSF threads.

Re: WW2 Dunlop,motor-cycle product.

Motor-Cycle products were only a small part of Dunlops war production,Dunlop Universal Tyres,inner tubes,rim tapes,security bolts,tyre levers,and puncture repair kits,motor-cycle rims,and motor-cycle clothing.

Re: WW2 Dunlop,motor-cycle product.

My '39 16H doesn't have security bolts and I stopped using them on "modern" bikes when I went over to alloy rims in the early eighties, but my recollection on Commandos was that they were Whitworth (or were they UNC by then ?)

Re: WW2 Dunlop,motor-cycle product.

Always Withworth on the wartime ones, first a thick chrome leather washer, then a flat washer, then the nut.
