I think the brass part has to be machined out. I know Martyn Bratby has done it to replace worn seats, but he makes his own replacements with a retaining nut. Easier to find another correct bowl. Ron

Thank you for the input, and you just saved along arm float chamber...
The older style AMAL bowl was caste over the brass seat so it meant you could not remove them. The new AMAL bowls now have a replaceable seat that falls out with a very slight tap so can be easily swapped out.
