My 3hw is running great and is'nt leaking that much oil normally. Only thing is that after a week or more not riding, when cranking the engine it feels like there is a lot more resistance. Like the crankcase is full of oil? After running a bit its leaking oil from the breather tube behind the primary chain cover.
So my question is; is this normal or is the oil pump on its way out or is something missing in the oil system?
Hi, If you look in the oil tank maximum oil level should be about two inches from the top of the oil tank, if it's a lot lower it could be wet sumping and passing through the pump into the crank case, this could be one of several problems, have you got a driver handbook or maintenance manual, which will advise you on how to solve the problem, if not I can photograph the relevant pages and put them on here,the Triumph plunger type oil pumps are usually very good and can take months or even years before they wet sump, plus the 3HW pump is easy accessible so should be very easy to sort.
