Does anyone know of a supplier for the large nuts (15-5285) that fix the handlebar damper rubbers? I have a salvaged pair awaiting replating, but would like some good 'uns.
Hi Craig
I have the following here
1 x set of retaining nuts - chrome plated
1 x set of locking tab washers - un plated
1 x set of modern shock absorber rubbers
It’s the last of what I had made in U.K.
if interested drop me a line
Well since Scott seams to have missed out on the parts that John has, maybe Craig could send you his original nuts to copy to go with your washers?
When I built my 39 Speedtwin, I bought the handlebar rubbers off Jeff Hunter (the rubber man) But the rubber or Neoprene that he uses was far too soft and just squidged out the sides as I tightened the nuts. So I visited a firm in Southampton who specialise is various forms of rubber components. They pressed me out some doughnuts the correct size from some sheet material. It must have been 1/2" or 5/8"? thick and clamped up perfectly. Ron
Thanks for all the inputs chaps, after getting a lead I have secured a top yoke. It’s showing it’s age but I can sort that out.
Can anyone tell me what the thread size the big nuts are??
