AS far as I know one can buy the brightspark easy cap co3 condenser [£17] which fits on the points housing. One does have to disassemble the mag to get at the armature as one has to cut the original condenser wire. I've got to do this on my M21 as it's rapidly burning points.

Brightspark cap has worked for me. I put one in my M33 6 years ago and it's done around 9,000 miles. I was obversely lucky that my coil was ok, it had the classic symptoms of hard to start when warm. Not an easy thing to cut out the earth on the old condenser, but the correct bearing puller makes things a lot easier. Good thing about the bright spark cap is you can easy replace it but I'm running the same one I fitted 6 years ago. Not every one's choice I know but it was a cheap fix for me. Once you dismantle the mag you may find you need other parts, which are available on the Brightspark online site which include quality oversize bearing insulators and correct carbon brushes.
Dave Lindsley was just down the road and I found him very helpful & reasonable. However he's retired and not only do I have to try and improve the fairly weak [though blue and heat resistant] spark with a new condenser, I increasingly suspect that matters may be greatly improved by the mag being remagnetised. Apparently the required device is not generally available. Does any one know which specialists carry out this procedure?
