I’ll be at netley marsh Thursday afternoon & Friday & beaulieu on Saturday Sunday
I’ll neighbours with Leon at Netley on stand B45 & be sharing with andy Tiernan at beaulieu near the entrance to the old yellow field which is not used this year
I’ll have a selection of Bsa M20 parts with me - if you need anything & I have it I can bring with me - on the ferry Wednesday evening
I’ll also have some some complete m20 frames with forks & a pre war Triumph TH rigid frame if anyone wants a go at them
I'd say Netley was about a 1/3rd of what it was say 10 years ago. Cheddar was also depleted because of the clash, which I was told was done on purpose by VMCC because of the dispute with Moretons over Shepton. We found that the extra 15 miles from our direction was slow and laborious through small winding villages with 20mph speed limits. 2 hours to do the 62 miles there and 2 1/2 hours home:confused: Ron
I got to the VMCC jumble, but couldn't make either of the other events. Cheddar seemed a bit smaller than Shepton last September. More to the point there was very little M20 stuff around 🙁 Were Netley or Beaulieu any better?
John O'Brien is the guy to catch up with for WM20 stuff. Although I did meet a guy at Cheddar who makes excellent M20 rear stands . It was either £120 or £150?? But I've got his card somewhere. Ron

I used to enjoy the Netley jumble, but there is no way I would go there rather than the VMCC jumble on the same day. I'm not interested in the politics of why it all happened as it did. But what I would say is that the new venue at Cheddar worked very well, and the many friends who I met there were all very positive about it - Hopefully this means it will grow and be even better next time. As for its location, it really doesn't matter, its going to be good for some, not so good for others - Wherever it is located.
Another big plus for me is that it will support a very worthy charity, the air ambulance. I picked up some very useful bits and pieces for very good prices and caught up with friends from all over the place. Well done Somerset VMCC !
Agreed that netley continues in a downward trajectory
It’s a pity as it used to be a great event to find parts, contacts & a good time socially
However - with what I sell or specialise in - I always do well despite the overall weaker show
I had agreed to share the stand with Andy T at beaulieu - a mistake from a selling view point as it was poor for me on that front - but in the other - a gift with what I found there
If vMCC run cheddar next year same as beaulieu / netley - I will do netley, cheddar & a social visit to beaulieu on the Sunday
I need to make everything count on each trip these days - travelling & expenses soon add up
It was great to see many faces again - all going well we can all do it again sometime soon

If Netley moved well away from Beaulieu weekend I think it could recover, but maybe not if the Mortons team and the VMCC are determined to fight it out?
Either way there is very little WW2 motorcycle stuff left for the ever increasing numbers looking for it.
I thoroughly enjoyed myself, regardless of the pains and other joys of getting older!
We left Holland Thursday morning at 4.00, and then met Jan near Bruges to drop off some stuff, and then on to Calais, ferry and on to visit Ron Thursday afternoon, then on to Netley, where people were setting up, and bought some nice goodies, then camped there, and an early rise the next day, as more traders came in, and bought more stuff.
Then Friday around 12 o'clock we left for Beaulieu, and found it mostly set up, and trawled that, and bought lot's of nick knacks, it's more for the tools and tins there, but still some interesting motorcycle bits too, Saturday was more of the same, and Sunday morning we did the Beaulieu "Trunk Traders" thing, basically a car boot sale, with a lot of junk, but found some more tools, then off to Dover, and on the way visited the Hamstreet jumble in Kent, but many people were already packing up, but managed to buy a Miller headlamp shell.
Then a quick Indian meal in Dover and on the ferry to Calais, and home in Holland before midnight!
So all in all a good but very bizzy long weekend, met lot's of nice people, and learned a lot.
