The Triumph 3HW parts books are odd in the sequence they were issued, cat ref 20,22,23,24,25,21,26,you would think cat ref 21 would have been issued between 20 & 22,so something odd there, don't think there is a missed contract though, the photo was taken at littlewoods boxing factory in Liverpool and shows the bikes in front of the packing crates which held five bikes, many from this batch went to the far east, and show up in original wartime &, post war photos.
These are the pictures I have. Have you got a better resolution Steve? These are from contract S5340 in 1944. (Mine is from this contract) These later bikes had lost their steering damper and were fitted with a 7/8" handlebar and the standard Amal controls Ron
Hi Ron, the top photo is the one on Facebook, if you type in the search box LITTLEWOODS LIVERPOOL BOXING in capitals there's some more photos from the same batch, the photo is interesting in that the the bikes are fitted with both lycetts & Mansfield pillion seats.
Contract C8886 / Cat. Ref. 21 was placed on 11/10/1940, just one month before the Coventry Blitz which destroyed the Triumph factory so presumably sat "on hold" for several years. The earlier Triumph Catalogue refs are a mess, it looks as if their early 1930s contracts to the RASC had no references originally and they were added to the system much later.
The images below are from PEACE to WAR a large book on Littlewoods war achievements with over 250 pages and 1000 plus photos, printed on good quality paper.
The images below are from a cheaper quality booklet.
Below, one that made it to the far east, this one in RAF police service in post war Japan.
