Re: BSA M20 Reassembling a box of bits,

There are two rubber timing cover seals...The special bolts that engage the seals have a drilling through them for the oil, an acorn shaped top to fit into the seal and are 5/16 cycle thread...They screw into the cam spindles...Ian

Re: BSA M20 Reassembling a box of bits,

Thank you very much. That clears that issue.
Just one other thing... how easy should it be to turn the oil pump shaft?

Thanks again Colin

For the oil pump, BSA used Mazac alloy which as it oxidizes with age, it grows and will bind the gears. You need to take it apart and make all the surfaces flat and use some very, very fine grinding paste to stop the gears from binding. Once done it should turn easy.

A much better option is to get one of the new cast iron pumps as they don't have this problem. I bought mine from Ian on this forum.

Re: BSA M20 Reassembling a box of bits,

This is an example of the pump.
I'm running one and it works, though I think they could be better.
