Hi all,

I have fitted the clutch to my M20 as per the instructions and have a very novice question. I hope people don’t think I am stupid!

When I kick with the kick start the clutch center turns but the secondary chain and Cush drive / clutch basket does not turn. Is this correct, and because the engine needs to be decompressed to turn? Just a guess.

Is this right????

Yes, once you have the other clutch parts fitted it will function as it should....Also, if that is an original engine shock absorber spring and not a replica one you have the wrong spring...The spring made from round wire is for the later 2 lobe shock absorber and is not suitable for the 4 lobe set up...The 4 lobe spring is made from rectangular a section wire and is much lighter in poundage...
You don't have the loose side plate fitted behind the primary chain spring clip either...Ian
