Re: Cylinder base tool

I don't think this is a BSA tool, but you can see the idea. I always seem to manage with the open end of a 5/16 combination spanner. But I have bent or ground spanners for a specific purpose. Ron

Re: Cylinder base tool

???. The cylinder base studs are 7/16 (14 tpi Whitworth thread into the case and 20 tpi cycle thread for the nuts). The nuts are reduced hex for a 5/16 Whit or 3/8 British standard spanner. I don't know where 11/16 comes into it?

Here is the spanner I use. Ron

Re: Cylinder base tool

Ron, he probably means US AF, but that won't fit right.

Cheers,

Yes Lex. A 7/16 USF nut has the same 20 tpi but is a different thread form and a much bigger hex size. ie .6875" as apposed to the correct .6". They must be close to, if not rubbing on the barrel. Ron:thinking_face:

Re: Cylinder base tool

An easy way to make a tool that does the job is to take a 15 mm ring spanner, heat it red and bend it up in a way it will clear the magdyno.

Worked well for me. BR, Michiel
