Norton photo possibly taken in the Far East,possibly pre war army trials event?

I do indeed think these are pre-war, semi gloss paint, front number plates, central mounted pindrive speedo's, short clutch long front brake lever. Looks to be in tropical surroundings, short pants and light coloured uniform.
A pity none of the numberplates are legible.
