I think you're just down to trying to clarify the changes with anecdotal information on this one as all the parts lists I have show the same part number for the mudguard tail.....Here's a representative selection....Ian
1940.. C6126
Late 1942- late 43.. S1048
Late 1944 - Jan. 46 (last contract)..S7218
All these have the same part number listed..66-6941
Hi Ian
Not anectdotal no
I have the flat section & the short rib section here myself
The oddball rib version - which I got from a broken Australian bike - has the longer rib
A friend here ended up with it from me & has had issues with fitting the correct pattern no plate
The flat section where the plate mount would be expected to be affixed - is occupied by am elongated rib section
The tail section itself came from a military bike & has 3 holes lower downwhich I think lines up with the Mid war tail light holder associated with 2941/42 machines
Consequently- am looking for a correct pre / war tailpiece suited to a valence rear mudguard - anyone ?
My meaning was any information about when these various types were fitted would be anecdotal, not the fact they exist, as the part numbers don't help in identifying the dates of those changes...Ian:relaxed:
Hi Craig
That’s correct
The 2” or do rib allows the rest plate to be mounted on a flat surface
The one here is longer & unless the No plate is pressed to accommodate the mudguard rib - it can’t really be used
