Re: Lucas DU42 headlamp assembly

Ian,

Thank you for your answer, I used a flat cork seal between the reflector and the glass on my other DU-142 headlamps and the rubber extrusion between the glass and the headlamp rim.

Problem is the inner part of the blackout mask where the cork gasket won't seal.

Maybe a picture of the inside of a proper blackout mask will help?

Re: Lucas DU42 headlamp assembly

Kostas, the BO mask with the brass plate (Does it say "Lucas Maxilite" or something?) Are a civilian hood. I'm not sure but looking at the inside of yours, I wonder if it's for a car headlamp. The WD motorcycle hoods fit just the same as a normal rim would and usually have the extra little round window. Ron

Re: Lucas DU42 headlamp assembly

Ron,

It says "Lucas Maxlite" and it is for a car headlamp. I was planning to convert it for motorcycle use.
Do you have a picture of the inner part of a motorcycle mask?

Re: Lucas DU42 headlamp assembly

Kostas, this is an old shot of the inside of a blackout mask - I think it is original.
The glass holder is a reproduction I made to replace a very rusty original.
The screws and nuts are not original either.
