I am confused, I have now bought rear stand bolts from two respectable M20 dealers, however when fitting them to my original rear stand the shank seems too short and no thread space to place the nuts onto, let alone the washers.
There are 2 types of stands circulating at the moment
The originals that have threads on the inside flange and use a 1/2 nut as a lock nut
The Indian repos that use a long bolt with pipe thread and no thread on the back flange
Which type do you have ?
My 'nasty' bolts don't equal that drawing, hence the question. So all, please be aware there is a bad batch of these bolts out there! It's not just a one off as bought these twice now with the same issue!
I think John O'Brien, mentioned he had some Danny. Though I also think he's in England now.
If they are getting harder to find and someone can post the original dimensions, it's easy to knock a few up.
I have the hex size now :)
Indian replica stands were copied off the pre war type and have the wrong size holes for the wartime stand bolts..From memory wartime bolts have a 7/16" shank...Ian
