The reason for checking the gearbox was a tight spot in my chain.
Using the little knowledge that I have, I was able to narrow this down to the gearbox. The mainshaft is bent I presume due to lateral load.
Is there anything I need to check before I open the gearbox for further analysis.
In case the mainshaft is bent, can this be straightened professionally?
Your thoughts will be immensely helpful
Re: Burman Gearbox Mainshaft Bent | Matchless WD G3L
Hi Pratap, Have you actually clocked the shaft to determine that it's bent? Most chains that I've come across have a tight and loose part.(even new ones)
The necessary up and down movement given in the handbook when adjusting the chain should be done at the tightest part of the chain.

Hi Ron,
You were spot on. The Mainshaft is not bent. This is something to do with the chain.
I will follow the instructions as advised. Thanks for your help in this regard
