Oval brake

Can anyone recommend someone who has a lathe large enough to skin a brake in a built up wheel? Would prefer the south east of the UK if possible. Cheers JT

Re: Oval brake

Road Star Cycles in Dover skimmed my front brake drum (on the wheel) a few years back, but they are still there and its a great place to visit - very old school!

Re: Oval brake

Coincidentally, just came across this recommendation, if you are nearer to Biggleswade..."I’ve just had a Matchless’s front brake drum, with tyre still on, skimmed by Stotfold Engineers of Biggleswade. they a VERY GOOD find. Terry; the owner, is clearly an excellent engineer."

Thank you for your suggestions. JT

Re: Oval brake

PS; as I recall, the drum I had to have skimmed was one I swapped with a terrible cad, by name of "JT" as I recall. Simply ghastly chap!
