1941 WD G3L Fork bearing race question

Just wanted to ask the forum what is the accepted/correct method.

Obviously you put grease in the race for the ball bearings, but is there any need for grease between the race and the frame?

Re: 1941 WD G3L Fork bearing race question

i cant se anything wrong with putting a bit of grease between the frame and cups but you still need the maintain earth contact for your headlamp.

Actually I think you're supposed to run a separate earth wire from the headlamp to the main frame. Ron

Re: 1941 WD G3L Fork bearing race question

Yes, grease is needed as the race is not pressed in like most bikes and it will tend to move a little bit and cause some wear and rust. Many other people epoxy the bearing race into the frame to keep it from moving.

Re: 1941 WD G3L Fork bearing race question

Thanks for that. It did seem logical to put a little in there to stop corrosion and wear due to vibration etc.
