Re: 1941 WD G3L Side Cover for rocker box Question

I just looked in the G3 parts list as it quotes the finishes. It says Khaki Green which is supported by the factory pictures. But the G3L factory picture shows it silver (Mat Chrome or Cadmium). But in actual period pictures some look painted to me....But nothing really clear. However your cover looks like it's plated.....Mine was painted when I acquired it and I've just repainted it at its rebuild, as it's not depicted in ex factory spec. Ron

Thanks ron

Yeah, looks to be some sort of plating that's why I asked. It had rusted through the plating in some parts.

I've already plated one in nickel. See how that stands up.

Plan is to paint them, just plating underneath as another level of rust protection.

Re: 1941 WD G3L Side Cover for rocker box Question

Hello again Alan,

Re. rocker box inspection cover.

I bought a couple of new covers from Russell motors, Battersea, a couple of years ago & they were made of steel & painted in a black finish.

I have seen a number of alloy inspection covers & assumed that they were for post was models

Chris

These are definitely steel. My magnet sticks to them.
