1941 WD G3L Spacer Question

Hello again.

Getting there slowly.

The bike has many spacers and I am trying to work out what sizes I need.

The bike came as a basket case and in amongst everything were 4 spacers, 3 of one size approx. 22mm diameter and I think 13mm thick and one that was 11mm thick. All for 5/16th bolt.

I need spacers for everything else.

According to the parts list there are 14 spacers required, and apart from 017497 which there are 6, all the rest are different.

Spacer, long, for centre bolt, outside chaincase (CF-40-G2M-C27) 011055 Qty1
Spacer, for centre bolt, inside chaincase (BF-35-2-C29) 017142 Qty1
Spacer, for front, centre bolt (KF-40-G3-F66) 017497 Qty2
Spacer, for front, top bolt (KF-40-G3-F66) 017497 Qty2
Spacer, for frame uniting bolt (KF-40-G3-F66) 017497 Qty2
Spacer, for centre bolt, between engine plates (CF-20841) 20841 Qty1
Spacer, thick, for oil tank bracket bolt (CF-4178) 4178 Qty1
Spacer, thin, for oil tank bracket bolt (CF-4178-S) 4178-S Qty1
Spacer, for seat stay bolt (KF-RC-28) RC-28 Qty2
Spacer, for footrest rod, between engine rear plates (KF-V2-FR6) V2-FR6 Qty1

Can anyone advise the sizes (OD x Width x hole) for the above please?

I haven't been able to find any online (Russell, AMC or AMOC). I don't have a lathe, but may have access to someone who does and may be able to make them for me.

Obviously it would be nice to be able to say exactly what sizes I need and provide the relevant stock for him to cut from.

Kind regards

Al

Re: 1941 WD G3L Spacer Question

Morning

I have most if not all the spacer sizes for the WD G3l, do you want the dimentions in imperial or meteric - if metric I will have to convert the imperial sizes to metric

Centre spacer - Outside chain case (40-G2M-C27) 01 1055 Also number 01 0953
0.625 outside diameter (O/D) x 0.460 inside diameter (I/D) x 1 61/64 long

Spacer - Centre stud - Inside chain case (35-2-C29) 01 7142
0.625 O/D x 0.457 I/D x 0.875 long

Spacer - Front centre bolt (40-G3-F66) 01 7497 - 2 Off
0.875 O/D x 0.325 I/D x 0.502 Wide

Spacer - Front top bolt (40-G3-F66) 01 7497 - 2 Off
0.875 O/D x 0.325 I/D x 0.502 Wide

Spacer - Lower front & rear frame uniting bolt (40-G3-F66) 01 7497 - 2 Off
0.875 O/D x 0.325 I/D x 0.502 wide

0.574 O/D x 0.447 I/D x 0.313 Wide

Spacer - Rear stay bolt (RC-28) New number 01 7318 - 2 Off
0.500 O/D x 0.250 I/D x 0.875 Wide

Spacer - For foot rest bar - Between the engine plates (V2-FR6) New number 01 0924
0.875 O/D x 0.625 I/D x 2.500 Long

ALL THESE DETAIL REFER TO MY OWN WD G3L MATCHLESS, THERE IS SOME DIFERENCES BETWEEN CONTRACT NUMBER

As reguards to the horn mounting bracket to front engine mounting bolt question:

My note indicate a bolt of 3/8 diameter with a length of 3/4 with a thread of 26 threads per inch. Old number STD 402.New number 00 0402

The bolt should be slightly domed on the top of the head - For weight saving?

With a flat washer on the underside (STD 12) 00 0012
and a 3/8 x 26 threads per inch nut (STD 3) 00 0003

I also add a small dab of loctite (Low strength) To avoid anything coming loose

I have the horn on my bike mounted sideways on the bracket, because if it is mounted facing forward the vibration will eventually snap the Y shaped mounting bracket

Hope this info is of use to you, anything else you want to know please drop me a line & I will try to help

Where abouts in the world are you?
