I was lucky enough to be given this detector find from the beach at Malo-les-Bains...It's brass, but there is something about it which makes me wonder if it had been nickel plated...however, it's been too long in a saline environment to be sure.
It's quite difficult to measure, due to the curved edge lip...I'm coming up with .25mm at the thinnest point but there is quite a lot of distortion all the way round.
The overall size is 61,9 x 13,3mm.
Is it feasible to have press tooling made ? There are certainly no accurate pre-war Lycett replica plates available. Most that I've seen have been etched brass, as per the Terry badges (which are closer, but still not 100% accurate).
