John from the BS381C range, Service Brown is 499 but I also like the darker 436 Dark Cammo Brown. I suggest some of each to have a choice or blend it. https://www.e-paint.co.uk/BS381-colour-chart.asp
I now buy my paint from a local firm and use their single pack polyurethane matt. They can of course alter the cocktail to achieve egg shell or satin. I have found it very forgiving against petrol spills, but do my utmost to avoid them.
An option local model shops i think they describe it as leather brown number84 small tin does about a foot square, theyre about a euro a tin, its a near match to wartime brown, easy enough to get colour matched for a big tin
Jon why would you bother to try and get it matched? Service Brown BS499 is a standard colour which you should be able to buy, off the shelf from any auto paint supplier. Ron
