WM20 rebuild

Well I have my matching number 1944 WM 20 torn down into bits. Fully thing. The steering race balls on the bottom race fell out. I was successful in recovering 21.
By my count that is one to many. The top race had the number 20. I suspect a ball got dropped and never retrieved. The forks look good, but it is missing a few parts including the friction place assembly.
The rear frame was compromised, but I was lucky enough to find a near perfect frame.

Next I have to get someone to measure the cylinder damage to determine if a 40 or a 60 over will clean things up. Looks like oversized pistons are getting hard to find.

Any advice on cylinder rebuilding is welcomed.

Thanks

Re: WM20 rebuild

If you were in south yorkshire, we'd happily stick a bore gage down it.

Re: WM20 rebuild

I just talked to a neighbor who was a diesel mechanic.
He has a bore micrometer at his garage. Once he retrieves it we will know. I almost went out and bought a set. He said his device measures the bore directly.
What I really need now is a sand blaster.
Thanks

This is how it should be measured to accurately determine the degree of wear...Ian

Ian,
Thanks! I wish I had a tenth of your knowledge.
Thank you so much for helping me in many ways with this project.
