How much thread should be on this pin? Or is the thread supposed to run right up under the head? Should there be a certain amount unthreaded so the eye of the spring can move on the pin or should the pin screw up hard against the eye of the spring so it is held tight against the inside of the cover? I've never had one like that...The spring loop is held (clamped) by the screw head and the locknut only serves to stop the screw coming loose...I don't recall how far the thread runs up the original screws. Interestingly, original screws are also hardened...Thread is 1/4" cycle thread....Ian
