HEADLIGHT BACKED ORIGNAL LUCAS MU42 / eBay

Hello guys,

There is a post on eBay for a late war backed original Lucas, the one with push switch and no Ammeter.

https://www.ebay.com/itm/TRIUMPH-NORTON-AJS-SUNBEAM-HEADLIGHT-BACKED-ORIGNAL-LUCAS-MU42/402424989027

BUT

The seller has 100% positive feedback, and only 72 sells, and it is pretty cheap, I think, so might be a scam.

eBay item number:402424989027

Origin: India.

BTW, I am not sure if the rim bottom lock should be this shiny latch...
I believe it should be the metal bar spring type. (? Not sure)

Cheers,
Noam.

Re: HEADLIGHT BACKED ORIGNAL LUCAS MU42 / eBay

He lists it correctly as an MU42 which is a post war headlamp....Hence the claw clamp for the rim. His Jeep parts all seem accurately listed and not overly expensive. Ron

Hi Ron,

Thanks for the info. That makes sense.
So do you think that this combination is military post war,
Or something someone put together by himself? did BSA supplied masked headlight also postwar?
The olive drab seem correct and aged...

Oh yes Noam. You often see these post war military headlamps which usually have a dome glass. Ron

Re: HEADLIGHT BACKED ORIGNAL LUCAS MU42 / eBay

It's most certainely put together, as I've never seen the combination of late war panel, with a postwar headlamp, and had many new in the box, domed glass as Ron said, rim also different, and a clear plastic ammeter. Also reflector is different and cheaper made than the wartime ones. Still a nice headlamp, if you change the rim, and find a flat glass.

Cheers,

Lex
