M20 clutch pushrod cork washer

What is the general opinion about the cork washer 15-270 that fits on the pushrod inside the kickstart cover? I don't think I've ever seen one and certainly have never considered fitting one. Ron

Re: M20 clutch pushrod cork washer

Ron,

I think the one that I had on mine was like a felt material, not cork.

Re: M20 clutch pushrod cork washer

Felt does seem obvious but the parts list calls it cork. Ron

I've never fitted one and never had any problems as a result...I never fit the cork in the clutch sleeve either...Ian

Re: M20 clutch pushrod cork washer

Hi Ron

Still a novice with these machines :face_with_rolling_eyes: .When I took mine apart it had a felt washer. I tried to get another but as already said they are not available .I went to a hardware shop and bought some of the felt pads that stick to the base of chair legs, cut one out with a punch peeled the adhesive backing off and it did the job .

Re: M20 clutch pushrod cork washer

I have had one on two gearboxes they were unopened stock they were felt 1937, 1944. Could not get replacments used o-ring (fat) and tested with prussian blue to check fit worked well. regards Charlie
