Re: Forum Picture

There is a "similar" "monument" here in Bruges, made with the remains of a Sherman:

Re: Forum Picture

I knew a dispatch rider by the name of Douglas Miles - he ran a motorcycle shop in Droitwich. He was with the BEF and during the retreat to Dunkirk he arrived late at a river bridge which had been blown up so he and his M.20 + some others tried to cross the river in a rubber dinghy. I think they came under fire when part way across, the bike fell over and punctured the bottom of the dinghy. Bike and dinghy went to the bottom whilst everyone else had to swim for it.

This M.20 looks to be a post Dunkirk relic.

Re: Forum Picture

I'm very impressed with the paint used for the markings on the rear mudguard, that really is made to last.

I will have to go to Bruges one day, that Sherman is amazing, here's another one at Monte Casino turned into a monument.
