Interesting, I've read about the concerns in the wartime hierarchy over the number of deaths and serious injuries sustained by motorcyclists and this was obviously looked at as a potential solution to some of the problem....

There had been earlier talk of weather-protective leg shields.

Having a single down tube means in the event of an off the whole thing will pivot and may trap a leg. The idea is good but unless the bike has twin down tubes the idea is flawed.
