first start

First start up of Royal Enfield WD/CO that I brought from Arnaud in 2017, stripped, sand blasted frame, tinware and rebuilt the engine in 2018. then did nothing due to the fact we purchased a holiday home and spent a lot of time there, so at the start of our lock down I had a pile of parts ready for painting, fortunately I had purchased the paint and other stuff I would need 18 months ago, so had a really good lock down, the last few bits required have been purchased since it finished. Thanks for the advise I got from this forum it made life easier. Cheers Barry

Re: first start

Hello Barry, well done on making such good progress with your CO, it looks great, what colour did you go for?

I'm following a way behind you with my CO/B. Can I ask where you got your control cables from, or any other RE spares?

Thanks,

Tom.

Re: first start

Hi Tom
I got all the cables except the valve lifter from a friend who had picked up a box of RE cables on ebay a few years ago when he was restoring a G3, the valve lifter and other parts mostly came from Hitchcocks and some odds and sods from ebay.
Cheers Barry

Re: first start

Great pictures. I love that stage of he project when things start to come back together, looking fresh. Just before the bit when you spend hours sorting out all the little niggles.
Can I ask where you got your handle bar controls chromed? That looks just the finish that I am looking for.

Re: first start

I love the first start of a restoration, it's when all your hard work pays off and was worth all the effort. Exciting too :relaxed:
