I was thinking about refinishing my combo levers. Was was the original finish? My air and mag levers are brass and the body and levers are black but I don't know how they were finished when new. Anyone able to help?
We don't know how long BSA made replacement spare's for the early levers, my 1939 spares list was printed in 1946 so probably longer than you would imagine, the brass parts on my NOS pair are unplated, and there is a "piled arms" logo stamped into both the steel plated clutch and brake levers without a date letter?
I've had NOS levers where the brass was unplated and the steel parts were the same....I think they had been subjected to a rust proofing process though...Ian
