Thanks all for the information. Here is the website of the Vintele I was asking about: https://www.vintele.co.uk/
Pete C, I really like that setup, what make and model is the Royal Enfield stand? I like the fact that it is held by a plate and two bolts, it is sort of like the side stand on my BSA C12.

Mark, I was afraid you might ask about the RE stand. Fact is I got it off a mate who is the local RE dealer and I have no idea what it is off originally. Not a new item by any means, it was kicking around in his "parts" bin.. I'll try and contact him and ask.
I had to make up the aluminium spacer under the plate and a couple of longer studs, but as the stand was the price of a pint I was happy enough.
Looking around on the internet it looks like the stand may be from a 90's Bullet. I like the fact that it is not one that clamps on to a frame tube, those always seem to not be tight enough to work for a long time. If your fried does have some more information, I would really appreciate it.
Has anyone fitted one of the Vintele prop stands to their WDM20? They look like an interesting option instead of the very hard to use rear stand.
Has anybody tried a Vintele prop stand on a WM20 in the past 2 years? I tried a Wassell universal clamp-on side stand, but I couldn't adjust it to clear the rear chain or the brake rod.
A friend of mine has one of the new Vintele telescopic prop stand fitted to his girder forked M33 frame. It's the same frame as a M20 apart from sidecar lugs. He has had it fitted for a few years now and it works very well. Stable and easy to use, sorry no pictures of it.
Since this old thread on prop stands has been resurrected, I'll add the details of mine.
Rob Miller loaned me his original "pre war" BSA side stand and I got one cast from it, and from pictures supplied by Rob and Henk, I made it up as near as possible to how it would have been. Ron
These prop stands are available in several different forms including extending, from Hitchcocks, the Royal Enfield specialists. Their website is illustrated, you can get an idea from there if you want to buy elsewhere.

Thanks, all. So far the Vintele stand looks like the easiest bolt-on set-up. I don't have access to a welder or a foundry.
I have a Vintele fitted to a flat-tank AJS, came with the bike. It works well enough and is certainly more convenient than the back-stand for a quick stop such a fuelling etc or on uneven ground, but not exactly inconspicuous. It’s not strong enough to support the bike when kick starting, so if you need to dismount to start then it’s not suitable as your only stand. It’s locked in place by a sprung ratchet, the actuator being just an inch above ground, and if you tread on that by mistake with your toe then the stand will retract. Also, the AJS is much lighter than an M20. Overall, for an M20, I would say that the proper field stand is far better, failing that some sort of fabricated kick-stand.

Thanks, John C. I want a side stand that will not move when I shuffle to the back to put down the rear stand.
In which case the Vintele may work for you. It’s not a thing of beauty, but a lick of paint would help it blend in. Unlike the field stand, the Vintele can be extended whilst you’re in the saddle.

My bike has a patchwork quilt or coat of many colors anyway. It has at least 3 different shades of green, a little black, and a smattering of exposed red primer. A black stand will fit right in.
At this time, I'm waiting for a USA shipping quote from Mick Hall.
