Norton Forum Photograph

I note yet again that the photo of the 16H seems to show a very tired front fork spring going by the angle of the girder fork links. Whether that was by use or poor quality spring manufacture I would not know but it does seem all too common in the wartime photos I have seen.

Re: Norton Forum Photograph

Maybe it's why so many of those Norton's had big dents in the tanks? I haven't worked out how it happened so often? Ron

Re: Norton Forum Photograph

I've bounced mine off the bump stops a few times but never dented a tank. I suspect that it comes from the forks twisting against the lock-stops if it's dropped.

The bike in the photo does have two quite sturdy lads sitting on it.

I think that the 16H is quite softly sprung though.
