I note yet again that the photo of the 16H seems to show a very tired front fork spring going by the angle of the girder fork links. Whether that was by use or poor quality spring manufacture I would not know but it does seem all too common in the wartime photos I have seen.
I've bounced mine off the bump stops a few times but never dented a tank. I suspect that it comes from the forks twisting against the lock-stops if it's dropped.
The bike in the photo does have two quite sturdy lads sitting on it.
I think that the 16H is quite softly sprung though.
