Cz26 v cz27 ammeters

Hi

Anyone know the difference between these 2 ammeters

Both - well at least those I have - are 0-8-0 but the 43 dated cz26 has a white face

John as far as I can see, the CZ26 had a black face and was for a car/truck 20-0-20 amps. I would hazard that someone has replaced the face in yours.

Does the cz26 also have a window in the back?
I know a cz11 is almost similar as a cz27..internals are different

I thought of having a go at doing that, as the 20-0-20 are much cheaper. It wouldn't make much difference on the bike, I think the CZ27 I've got only works when it wants to.

Strange but my 1941 wm20 also has a amp meter with a white face ? , it seems to have been on the bike a long time and appears untouched and not messed with

This cz26 has a white face & an ml logo - it’s war time dated

But the bezel shows no evidence of being removed previously

Yes there were definitely white faced motorcycle ammeters ie the CZU27 8-0-8.
The CZ26 was fitted to Landrover for starters.

I can't claim to understand the differences, but this list purports to show the motorcycle ammeters fitted 1936 - 1939.

There were differences for magneto or coil ignition. Black, white or Ivory faces were listed...No sign of a CZ (Centre Zero) 26 though and if as Ron says its 20amp then it won't be a motorcycle fitment.

The face looks home-made to me..Has someone tried to put a Norton 'N' on it ?

With a bit of care, the bezels can be lifted off with little damage...there were probably even spares at one time.

That is a ML type CZ11 pre Lucas early thirties.
I have white faced CZ11 Lucas types dated 35 and 36
