Re: fuel tank

So WM20 tanks are all flat bottomed then?

Re: fuel tank

No, not the early ones which were effectively pre-war civilian pattern.

Re: fuel tank

['I have a 1947 civvy M20 which has twin taps and no balance pipe.I thought it was correct...']

The first couple of years after the war contained a number of specification deviations...

If it's a girder fork model the tank is correct...The early post war civilian models were basically WD spec. machines with various WD parts removed but many remaining and refinished in civvy colours and plating finishes...WD parts were substituted as supplies ran out, such as the WD footrests and offset speedo bracket for example...These machines also had the 'sidecar lug' rear frame section...

A full update to specifications and finishes was carried out when telescopic forks were introduced...Ian

Re: fuel tank

Thanks Rik and Ian,
To clarify I have a tank (yet to be painted) with a notched floor to the tank. So I could have it welded to flat bottomed and it wouldn’t be too close to the head/safe?
