Just for clarification, when fitting a new Timing case Mag Seal, the new type with the spring, which way round should it fit,
does the what I would say the solid side face of the seal face up to the back of the timing gear or the the timing case?
The really old seals as far as I recall had two solid faces!
John the spring and likewise the lip of the seal should be facing the way the oil is coming from. ie when you fit the seal in the timing case, the spring side should be looking at you.
A smear of grease/oil on the pinion will help it enter the seal. Ron
