I have a nice tank cap here, dull brass finish and shows no sign of having been plated. It's the flat top type rather than the slightly domed version. I can't see any maker's marks except the letters HS/MC 100 - at least I think that's what it says. Is it WD spec do you think?

Thanks for the reply Ron, what I have here is just a standard 2" Ceeandess type bayonet cap that would fit most British bikes. It's the finish and markings that made me curious. I forgot to mention that it has the ring inside for a keeper chain. I know Enfield used these but I'm sure others did too. If it's not useful to complete a restored WD machine I can polish it in my spare time (as if!) to keep the winter blues away! I'll post a pic tomorrow.

That same cap was fitted to the WD Royal Enfield range as well as civilian and would normally have been plated. Maybe bare brass (painted) was a late war economy measure. Ron
No Lex! That's just one of many that go through my production line:relaxed:
Hopefully your tank will look something like that one day :disappointed: Ron
