Re: Map Carrier, Map Case & Spare inner tube case

All,

Does anybody have more information on these cases?
I assume these were introduced before the war but when?
Case found in England.

Cheers

Rob

Re: Map Carrier, Map Case & Spare inner tube case

It seems a very elaborate receptacle just for an inner tube? The guy in the picture seems to have his lid undone and very close to the spokes?? Ron

You see them quite often in WWI pictures for carrying a spare drive belt but this one is clearly marked 1942.

Re: Map Carrier, Map Case & Spare inner tube case

Just a theory, but could these have been more common earlier in the war before pannier racks and bags were standard fitment? Lots of storage space for items such as inner tubes when you have panniers, without panniers it's a different story altogether
