carburetor spacer

hi to everyone,
a curiosity: but were the BSA WM20, those used in war, equipped with the carburetor spacer?
and if they mounted it, what material was it? plastic / bakelite, aluminum or other material? Is there any photo that shows it?

Thank you all
Regards
Mauro

Re: carburetor spacer

1/8" (3mm) Tufnol spacer I believe. Ron

Re: carburetor spacer

Whats the idea of the spacer ? is it purely a heat shield for the carburetor ?

Re: carburetor spacer

Exactly so! Especially on a hotter running SV. Ron

Re: carburetor spacer

hi, thanks for the help ... now I have mounted a bakelite spacer that will be about 20mm ... is shown in the picture.
Would it be correct for a 1943 military motorcycle or not? will it be more recent as usage?
