'Behind the scenes in the vintage years' by "Torrens", aka Arthur Bourne

Just finished reading this fascinating book. Recommended for those interested in the golden years of motorcycling.......and they really were golden, if you had the money to afford one. Anyhow, it also contains some interesting information on British military motorcycles of WW2, especially the selection of bikes for airborne forces. Bourne was a big fan of the Flying Flea and he describes his (seemingly key) involvement in its adoption. I also spotted an interesting reference to "a scheme for reducing the noise of Airborne forces' 348 cc G/3L Matchlesses during [WW2]". That seems to relate to the former development of fishtail silencers, the "Brookland can".
