Re: Losing compression

Hi Mick

Did you get to the bottom of your loss of compression?

Was the valve "hanging up"?

Just interested to know.

Re: Losing compression

Hi Mick.

I had the same issue with my previous engine.
One of the valves was stuck open when warm, and after letting it cool a bit,
It would start right up.

Can be due to overheat as mentioned, soot on valve stem, very worn valve guide, bent stem...

Noam.

Re: Losing compression

Hi Patrick,

good question, but I have been busy, so haven't come to it yet.
First Í will check the ignition timing - it seems to change a bit over a long time (anyone else got that also ?)
Then the carburettor,
I will let you know in time.

Thanks for all the advice.

It seems Noam had the same problem on an previous engine. Problem not solved ?

Re: Losing compression

I had similar problems with a carboned up exhaust valve stem.
