OK, thanks everybody, the orders have been placed, elbows, little screws, felt ring, adapter, and the hose, will have prototypes of the elbows soon now, and I'll post pictures, no need for downpayment, there should be enough for everyone.
In the meantime, is there anyone who has an original adapter for the 276 carb? I have one here, but before making them, I'd like confirmation it's 100% Original.
Cheers,
Lex

Hi Lex,
I have what I believe to be a genuine nos vokes screw in adaptor different to those already posted, I'll dig it out tomorrow and mail you some pictures,
Regards, Tom Green
That one that Kostas has looks similar to what is shown on the early 16H India contract parts list.
It does show some sort of lip but difficult to scale from such a small picture.

Ray,
It is in fact from my 1938 india office WD16H!
Can you please send me this contract's parts list?
Lex, currently on vacations so you will have to wait for dimensions until the next week!
Finally after some years of development, we will be producing the Vokes elbows, for the Vokes tanktop desert airfilters. 100% like the originals, and will be working the same way, (adjustable for all makes)
Just a question of how much interest there is?
Will also have the hose, connector and period hose clamps available, maybe as a complete set.
Note, Matchless G3L used a different setup, and this might not fit.
So price is still unknown, the more interest, the more we'll have made, and the cheaper the price.
Got the prototype adapter in yesterday, decided to go for the longer type, as it can easily be shortened.
At this moment I won't be making the India office adapter, but if enough interest I can always make a couple myself.
Here two pictures, will make sure they fit OK on various Amal 276 carbs.
Cheers,
Lex

I'm replicating the earlier one piece carb elbow for the Vokes setup on my 1940 WD16H (3D CAD model done and prototype made) and have the flexible hose as per your photo above (I think you might have even given me the lead on the supplier?). I can tell you the length for my hose, but not sure if it will be close enough given the different elbow?
A couple of questions for you. Firstly, how do you stop the spiral wound flexible tubing from unravelling when you cut it to length? And secondly, will you sell your hoses clamps separately to the rest of the kit?
Ok, thanks for all the interest, we've got the first 2 prototypes in, looks good, but needs a little tweaking yet, so please some more patience, all the rest is there, so it will be done soon!!
Thanks for the info and interest everybody!
Robert Elliot, Re. the one piece elbow, is that the one for the Burgress filter on prewar KM20's ?? or the postwar one piece one? with a screw to tighten it on the collar? these are available I believe.
Still debating on selling the parts loose or not.
We plan to cut the hose on a fine bandsaw, will keep you posted on how it goes!
Cheers,
Lex

Thanks for the reply Lex. The elbow I’m working on is neither of those. It’s the one for circa 1940 Australian and Indian delivered bikes. I’ll post a photo when I’m at a computer next.
Yes, that’s correct Lex. I know now to refer to it as the “1938-1939” Vokes elbow now. Is anyone making them do you know? If they’re not, is anyone else interested in one? There might be economies of scale in making multiples (depending on the fabrication method I select of course).
Stuart, yes, have got you down, we're almost done, but the inner bit of the casting is a hair too big, so we have to adapt that, so waiting for new prototypes.
Sorry for the delay, but we want to make it really perfect!
Cheers,
Lex

Ian, yes, will start a new thread soon! but if you have an original filter, with all the felt tubing present, it does not really make more noise then an M20's engine!!
Cheers,
Lex

Hi Lex
Your kit can install on RE WD/CO?
Need cut the tank?
Pics?
Thanks in advance!
Regards!
Ok, just got the word that we have had some in the mail, these we had done as an update on the first 2 prototypes, that did not fit 100%, so we made alterations to the dimensions of the inner piece, and now they are perfect, will get more pictures tomorrow.
Cheers,
Lex

Received mine also really good quality Lex!!
Duly hidden under blanket with the balloon tank I acquired (sssh she hasn’t ask how much either was yet!!!)
Scott
I just got my Elbow assembly today-Many thanks for all the work you put into making this assembly! It's way too cold in my garage now to put it on my M20, but I'm sure it will work well when I do have a chance to work on it. As a side note, I also got my Third edition of "British Forces Motorcycles" today. I already have the first and second editions.....
I have one of Lex's filter elbows on my WD/CO/B. The pipe needs to be shortened for an Enfield, but it all fits fine. I have the earlier more bulbous tank on my WD/CO/B. I think later bikes had a flatter topped tank, maybe to take the filter better. I will send you a picture.
