1942 WB30

just met a fellow military motorcyclist at a show in Sevenoaks who had a nice 1942 BSA WB30 on display, he wanted to find the C number and frame no is WB30 660, i looked in the Orchard and Madden book but the numbers only go to 600? he did say it was supplied to the Admiralty, so maybe an RN bike?

Re: 1942 WB30

The bike mentioned is from the Admiralty contract C/S 13872 with frame numbers WB30 601-700...

The majority of B30 'survivors' are from that contract, some of the contract were sent to Malta with one recorded as having been recovered from Singapore...

The contract is mentioned in both editions of O & M but 'C' numbers are not noted..As an Admiralty contract they would probably have had an 'RN' prefix in most cases....

My own B30 was from that contract and at the time no serial numbers were available from the records..Employing a dose of 'artistic license' I put mine into 1st Royal Marine Engineers markings....Ian
