To Mavis from Walter,taken in 1947,could be middle east,odd lettering under C number?.

Seems like Israeli to me....

Typical of north african areas. Lybia, Tunisia etc. Seen a lot around the Suez time.

Odd lettering are Arabic equivalent numbers of the contract. Seems Egyptian but can’t swear it

This negative has been for sale on eBay for ages. According to the seller's description, it was taken in Egypt in 1948.

The figures at the bottom of the tank are defiantly the Arab style C number equivalent, as mentioned here.

Looks like B.V.I.II...... Brigade 5 Infantry 2? Though that seems a bit backwards to me.
