Is a Royal Enfield WD/G. I've added panniers to mine to make it more usable as it's one of my most favourite bikes to ride. It was supplied to Chatham Docks in 1941...... I suppose I could have strapped a suitcase on the back. Ron
Hello Ron
Wonderful bike... Excuse my ignorance, but what was the difference between a WD/G and a WD/CO ? Did both have the same 350 OHV engine ?
Thanks
Jean-Marc
Yes Jean-Marc, both 350cc. The pre-war Model G (Bullet) had an ally barrel and head with higher compression piston. But the WD version had the cast iron barrel, head and piston as per a WD/CO. Effectively they are the same engine, except that the 'G' retained the 1" main shafts whereas the CO's were 7/8".
The 'G' also has a bigger front brake. The rubber mounted handlebar and the other rubber parts make it a more comfortable bike to ride than my CO.
