Re: Middle/ Far East snapshot.

Another nice picture showing the RAF sidecar. Did the RAAF use RAF numbers or was that too early, Since Southern Command RAAF was not formed till 1941.....

Re: Middle/ Far East snapshot.

I think there's an airplane in the background.

Re: Middle/ Far East snapshot.

Vehicle is a cut-down 12 cab CMP FAT isn't it ? Aeroplane looks like a Dakota.

Certainly Canada used RAF vehicles around airfields. Presumably Australia also did where there were RAF facilities. The Australians were known as the Commonwealth's greatest pilferers and purloiners ! :-)

Re: Middle/ Far East snapshot.

Dakota's where also common here in Israel. This could be Atarot (Willhelma airport).

Re: Middle/ Far East snapshot.

Isn't there a saying "Officers impress, NCOs commandeer and Other Ranks steal" ? Something like that anyway :-)

Re: Middle/ Far East snapshot.

I guess the Australians were just being "economic" :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:
