message for Jan Van Der Velde - RE WDCO information
Hello Jan,
Alex informed me that you are the man to talk to in regards to RE WDCO's. I have just purchased a project that includes an extra frame, forks, motor, gearbox etc. It should be in my hands in a couple of weeks so I would like to pick your brains on what I have and whats missing. Any idea what census numbers these bike would have carried? Im told that they are both 44/45.
Frame No. M24276 and M25607
Engine No. 24336 and 25607
Gearbox No. HAB638 and HXT3007
Re: message for Jan Van Der Velde - RE WDCO information
Hello Ben,
Frame #24276 was despatched from the factory to the War Office in Batley on 17/03/1945 as part of military contract S/1546. There is a second despatch date in the factory ledgers showing that on 07/04/1946 it was despatched to Glendale Motors, but this is unusual: there's also a third despatch date: 07/05/1946, to Motorcycle Sales in Vancouver.
Frame #25607 was despatched from the factory to the War Office in Batley on 04/07/1945, also as part of military contract S/1546. Second despatch date is 18/06/1946, to Motorcycle Sales in Vancouver.
The engine with (duplicated frame) number #24336 was despatched from the factory to the War Office in Batley on 24/03/1945, also as part of military contract S/1546. Second despatch date is 21/06/1946, to Motorcycle Sales in Vancouver.
I bet you live close to Vancouver...? :relaxed:
I would be interested to get some photographs for the Royal Enfield WD Models Register! Please send me a PM for further information Ben!
