I think that a dynamo will give poor performance if the spring "star" on the magneto clutch system is not tightened correctly. The rpm's of the dynamo will not rev enough if this clutch will slip. What do you think? And what torque do you tighten this clutch?
Re: Tightening the slipping clutch on the magneto?
My information says 8 ft/lbs...I just tighten them up without actually trying to determine the torque setting....Of course that method initially required some trial and error to determine how tight, as it's only based on 'feel'...I always fit a new spring as well and have had some of the washers that the spring 'arms' run on (if the clutch slips) manufactured in a thicker material as they are less prone to distortion...Ian
