So I have finally got myself a WM20, all the way from Bavaria! Left Monday with a mate at 6:00 and was home by 22:30 Tuesday, never again!
So here are pictures of the data plates, if anyone can tell me anything I am all ears! :)

I can probably find some information about this BSA. Best send me an email with all information your have yourself about the BSA. Are both frame and engine numbers as they seems to be in the photos?

Well here she is, 6 months of searching and one road trip to Bavaria later and shes mine!:)
Henk tells me a typical war time rebuild, could tell some stories no doubt!
Anyone know where I can get the girder repair properly in the UK would be much appreciated.

Hi Scott,
When I was at the stage of rebuilding my girder, I bought a quality set of adjustable reamers (http://cormsquare.com/TinyMceUploads/_05112016120428552_e525314f-8cc4-4c38-8486-bbb5f4253765.jpg) and sourced the bronze bushing myself. Then I made the whole process solo, came out quite well and was cheaper than do the job outside. On the way I "earned" another tool set to my collection. I think it is worth consideration. After a period, when the gearbox was next, I made the same, reamers already in hand, and made all the bushings my self.
Good luck with the restoration, we will be happy to see some pictures of the process.

That is not going to be easy or cheap to fix.
The whole tube will need to come out and be replaced.Unfortunately a job for the ££££££££ professionls.

you've got the contract number so a quick look in madden etc,
it got +40 piston fitted 2nd feb 1959, it had an army workshop overhaul September 1944.

Blimey that is not good! I suggest you strip the paint completely first to enable inspection of the rest of the forks. Jake Robbins in Hastings comes to mind but I hear tales that he's gone off the rails lately

On the other hand I have a good tube forming guy here in Poole who has repaired girder forks for me. As long as it's just a single repair or two. If the forks need serious re-tubing they will have to be jigged for reassembly and it might be cheaper to buy another set. Ron

Jake was on the Norton singles FB page recently and seemed quite responsive. I know that some on here have had problems.

I took my forks in (it was a lot of years ago)but I found him fine to deal with at that time. He's certainly capable of the work if he's doing it himself.

Yes I agree with Rik. I've always found Jake to be friendly and helpful. But it seems others have had issues with him......One guy on here was waiting 2 years and not getting replies to his emails. I really don't know if it's safe to recommend him

Looks like the tube is broken on an earlier welding repair.

If welded that close to the lug, the brass will run into the weld and weakens it badly.... Think that is what happened here....

Evening All,
Started dry assembly of what I have and so far I need the following, can anyone tell me who is a good source for:
Rear wheel and head stock bearings
Grease nipples, all of them!
(what thread do they use, got a lot of powder coat to clean out!)
1x brake lever (how do I tell left from right?)

FYI I am doing this as a tribute to my late grandfather, he did 3 years in Burma on convoy escort riding ahead of them to "find" snipers, throw the bike down, roll into the hedge, stick his head up without getting it shot off and see where they were. Then go back out into the road (his throttle was fixed to fast idle so it didn't stop), get back to the armed escort and tell them where the trouble was waiting.
Didn't get a scratch!!
So I've decided to call the bike Gladys after his wife/my Nan, it was already in the back of my head and then Henk sent me a picture that really sealed it.

So from now on I will be referring to Gladys in my updates
