Re: Magy oil seal

If the slop is not tremendous, you can usually save the day with some 'Loctite' Bush and bearing retainer. If it's loose in the housing, it will undoubtedly spin with the pinion and make the matter worse. Ron

Re: Magy oil seal

You might also get away with Araldite or 'liquid metal'...However, the problem is to position the seal more or less concentrically to the mag armature...The housing usually wears well 'out of round'...

I made a jig to pick up on the original centre which enables me to carry out a machined repair to the casing that restores both size and centrality...

Unfortunately that can only be carried out with the engine fully stripped...

If you use Araldite or 'liquid metal' thoroughly clean the case with paint thinners or similar...Apply the 'glue' and then position the seal centrally by eye before allowing the 'glue to harden...Ian

Re: Magy oil seal

Yes araldite the journel is well worn oval shaped. if i study the fitment and use the pinion to press on the seal it will be centred. ill try it first with witness marks.
