Recommendations for engine machining

Hi,
I am in the process of buying an M20 as a restoration project although it is currently in running order. The current owner fitted a nos barrel around 10k miles ago and it is my understanding it is probably due a home by now at least?
Any recommendations for this in the U.K. , ideally in the East Anglia region, would be appreciated.
Many thanks in advance.

Re: Recommendations for engine machining

Hi,

I wouldn't bother.

If the compression is OK and it is not burning oil, then I would leave it alone.

If you hone the liners, then you will need new rings too.

Re: Recommendations for engine machining

Yes, agreed, shouldn't need it. However if you do want engineering work done in this area I can recommend T & L Engineering of Elstow near Bedford. There will probably be horror stories from someone (there usually is!) but they've always done good work for me over 20 years including boring, honing, metal spraying, grinding, big end replacement, balancing and aqua blasting.
