Took off the E3LM as I am still facing charging problems.
Today I noticed zero charging with the terminals connection method. So now it is extracted from its magneto seat, and I would like to know the simplest way of how to test it. I measured a resistant of 2,9 Ohms on the field but unfortunately can't remember the reading resistance of the Dynamo winding, silly me
BTW, I will have access to a lathe end of next week and am ready to wait, if you guys will say that it is the better way to go.
Thanks – Michael.
You can do a basic test. Lay the dynamo on your bench/top of vice. Wind the D&F wires together and connect them to the positive side of a 6V battery. Now earth the dynamo body to the Neg side of battery. The dynamo should motor in the same direction as the drive arrow. Ron
Not usually unless it is a very heavy duty battery charger
However connected to a battery, even a bad one should work.
Or you can use a 12 V battery with a heavy load like a pair of headlamp globes ins series
